COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Towson University women's gymnastics team finished second in a quad meet on Friday evening, hosted by Maryland. George Washington and the host Terrapins finished tied for first with a total of 194.925. The Tigers recorded 194.450 while William & Mary finished the meet with 190.550.

The Tigers started the meet on bars where they earned a team total of 48.450.
Tyra McKellar led the team effort with a 9.725 that also tied for sixth overall.
Samantha Lutz earned a 9.700 score while the rest of the Tiger squad hovered around a 9.675.

Towson continued to beam where the team put up a total of 48.675.
Lauren Ross finished tied for second overall with a team-high 9.800.
Bridget Steffen recorded a career-high 9.750 that was tied for sixth overall. McKellar also had a matching 9.750 score for the event.

The Tigers earned their highest event score of the meet on floor with 48.925. McKeller led the Towson effort and finished tied for third overall with a 9.850.
Noelle Harada tied her career-high on floor, scoring 9.800, and tied for seventh overall.

Towson ended the meet on vault where it earned a team total of 48.400.
Katie Sassa tied for seventh-overall with a team-high 9.825 on vault.
Janis Konkle set a career-high on vault with a 9.650 total while Lutz earned a 9.600, tying her career-high.

McKellar finished second in the all-around with a score of 39.025.

The Tigers will return home on Friday, Feb. 27 to host a quad meet at 7 p.m. The meet will feature Rutgers, Yale and Michigan State.
