RICHMOND, Va. - The Towson University men's swimming and diving team finished second at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship Meet on Saturday. The Tigers totaled 599 points over the four-day meet. William & Mary won the conference title with 784.50 points while UNC Wilmington finished third (565.50).

This is the Towson's highest finish at a CAA postseason meet since joining the conference in 2001-02. They finished third in the CAA meet last season. It is the Tigers' best postseason finish since they finished second at the America East conference meet in 2000-01.
The Tigers set five records and won two events on the meet's final day.

Senior
Matt Lowe set a school record in the 1650-yard freestyle. He timed 15:16.95 for the first-place finish, replacing his own record of 15:22.20 that was set in 2014. Senior
Jon Burr followed behind with a time of 15:29.76 to earn bronze.

Sophomore
Brandon Ress finished in fourth-place (15:32.52) while senior
Matt Collingwood placed fifth (15:36.79), sophomore
Tim Schade came in sixth (15:38.28) and freshman
Matt Sieffert rounded out the top 10 (15:44.07).

Sieffert's finish in the 1650-yard freestyle set a school freshman record, replacing the previous record time of 15:46.07 that was set in 1981 by
Ramon Ferrer.

Junior
Matt McKenney set a new conference meet and school record in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:45.68. His first-place time replaced his own record of 1:46.14 set last year. Sophomore
Noah Pritchard followed by McKenney in fourth-place (1:48.04).

In the consolation finals for the event, Lowe was the runner-up (10
th-overall) with a time of 1:49.36.

The Tigers placed fourth through sixth for the 200-yard breaststroke. Senior
John Gartland led the effort in fourth-place (2:01.00). Sophomore
Jeremy Liu came in fifth (2:02.20) while junior
Joel Todd finished sixth (2:02.35).

Colin Roddy came in fourth (12
th-overall) for the 200-yard breaststroke consolation finals (2:05.15).

Matt Hans placed third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 43.77.

In the consolation finals for the 100-yard freestyle, junior
Zach Brech came in fourth (12
th-overall) with a time of 45.68.

Sophomore
Nick Breschi finished fifth for the 200-yard backstroke, timing 1:47.44.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Breschi, Brech, McKenney and Hans set a new school record with a time of 3:02.01. The relay team placed fifth in the event and erased the previous school record time of 3:02.66 set last year.
