Late Birdie Secures Tignanelli Towson Invitational Title

PHOENIX, Md. – Freshman Jenny Buchanan sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 18^th hole to give the Towson women's golf team the 2015 Tignanelli Towson Invitational championship.

The tournament title marked the first time in eight years Towson won the event. It is also the first time the Tigers won the event at Eagles Nest Country Club.
Towson and Fairleigh Dickinson entered the final hole all tied. Buchanan landed her approach 25-feet from the pin, while FDU came up short.
Buchanan knocked in her putt and FDU was unable to get up-and-down.
Buchanan finished the tournament with rounds of 74 and 77 to tie for second.
Larissa Spiess shot the round of the tournament with an even par 72 today. She finished with one birdie, 16 pars and one bogey.
Spiess' 72 came on the heels of an opening-round 79. Her 151 tied teammate Buchanan for second place.
Emma Hjarne also finished in the Top 10 after rounds of 75-79.
The Towson B Team finished in a tie for fifth after rounds of 323-315=638.
Alix Lowe shot a two-over par 74, while Abigail Chong shot a four-over par 76.

The Tigers return to the links Sept. 19-20 at the Navy Invitational.
