TOWSON, Md. – The Tiger Athletic Fund (TAF) Donor of the Game was awarded to The Lawler Family during Saturday afternoon's football game versus the University of New Hampshire at Johnny Unitas ® Stadium.
Historically, the Donor of the Game recognizes a donor who has made a significant impact on Towson Athletics. On this occasion, the recognition was given to a group of four. Fred and Jean Glose, and Tom and Mary Lawler make up the Lawler Family.
The Lawler Family's involvement with Towson University extends beyond fandom and philanthropic support. Fred and Jean, parents to Mary, became Tiger fans when their grandson, Lee, was accepted into Towson and recruited to play baseball. Lee, a marketing major, graduated in 2015. Although Lee had multiple scholarship offers to other universities, the Towson athletics program and the Towson community were the deciding factors for him to sign with Towson Baseball.
"Our giving is because of the Towson community and the athletes we have met and continue to meet," said Tom Lawler. "Participating in D1 athletics is not easy for today's student athlete and we want to do what we can to help in our small way."
The Tiger Athletic Fund thanks The Lawler's for their continued support of Towson Athletics. To join them in supporting student-athlete scholarships click here.
