TOWSON, Md. – Following a thrilling 8-7 win over Georgetown on Saturday, the Towson University women's lacrosse team moved up in two of the three national polls this week.
This week's Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Poll moved Towson up two spots to No. 18 in the rankings. The Tigers are one of nine remaining undefeated teams in Division I and one of seven undefeated schools in the poll.
The Tigers (5-0), who matched the 1992 and 2005 squads for the best start in school history, are ranked for the second straight week and it is the highest the Tigers have been ranked in the coaches poll since the week of March 20, 2014.
In the ILWomen.com Media Poll, the Tigers jumped up two spots to a tie for No. 15. Towson received 109 points and is tied with Boston College in the rankings. Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) foe Delaware is receiving votes in that poll this week.
Towson held steady in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Women's Top 20 at No. 15 spot. Delaware is also receiving votes in that poll.
The Tigers look to continue their strong start to the season when they visit Stetson on Friday, March 11 for a 6 p.m. game.
