TOWSON, Md. – The Tiger Athletic Fund (TAF) Donor of the Game presented by Spirit Cruises was awarded to Lonnie and Margie McNew during Saturday night's football game versus Saint Francis at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
The McNew's involvement with Towson University extends beyond fandom and philanthropic support. Lonnie completed his undergraduate degree at Towson in 1968, and continued his education at the institution, earning a Master's of Education in 1974. In 1970, he joined the TU Staff, serving as Assistant Director of Residence. In 1974, Lonnie joined the Student Affairs division as Assistant Vice President. He moved to the Academic affairs division in 1981, serving as Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Services and Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management until his retirement in 2012.
Margie, also a TU alumna, graduated in 1972. Following in their footsteps, daughter Megan McNew attended and graduated from the university in 2006.
"I have been privileged to be part of the Towson University community for most of my life," said McNew. "Margie and I try to give back because we deeply appreciate that privilege."
The Tiger Athletic Fund thanks Lonnie and Margie for their continued support of Towson Athletics. To join them in supporting student-athlete scholarships
