CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving program opened the 2017 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center with a school record and silver medal performance.
 
Towson is in second-place after the opening day with 66 points. William & Mary leads the field (80) while Drexel (64) rounds out the top three.
 
The 200-yard medley relay team of Nick Breschi, Jeremy Liu, Jack Saunderson and Nick Essing took second-place with a school record time of 1:28.74.
 

How it Happened

• The first day of the 2017 CAA Championship meet began with a pair of relays on the men's side.
• Towson set a school record in the 200-yard medley relay to win the silver medal as Nick Breschi, Jeremy Liu, Jack Saunderson and Nick Essing swam a combined 1:28.74. The previous school record was 1:28.77, set by Nick Breschi, John Gartland, Matt McKenney and Matt Hans at the 2015 CAA Championships.
• Towson won bronze in the 800-yard freestyle as Nick Breschi, Evan Brophy, Jack Saunderson and Brandon Ress combined for a season-best time of 6:36.96.

The four-day meet continues tomorrow with morning prelims at 10 a.m. and evening finals at 4 p.m. The morning session will feature time trials for the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard individual medley, 50-yard freestyle and men's one-meter diving. The finals session will also feature the 200-yard freestyle relay.
