RALEIGH, N.C. – The Towson University gymnastics team placed sixth at the 2017 East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Championship Meet on Saturday afternoon inside Reynolds Coliseum on NC State's campus. The Tigers posted a team score of 193.225 to finish sixth.
 
George Washington won the meet (196.275), followed by New Hampshire (195.075) and North Carolina (194.525). NC State took fourth (194.200) while Pitt placed fifth (194.100).
 
Towson had gymnasts finish in the top 10 six times, led by Tyra McKellar who tied as the runner-up on the uneven bars.

How it Happened

• Towson scored 48.150 as a team on vault. Erin Tucker led the Tiger effort with a 9.750 score to tie for 13th. Tyra McKellar and Gabriella Yarussi had matching scores of 9.650 which tied for 28th. Cortni Baker scored 9.575 (33rd) and Bayleigh Fobes scored 9.525 (34th).
• The Tigers scored 48.625 on uneven bars. Tyra McKellar led the Tiger effort with a 9.825 to finish tied as the runner-up for the event. Cortni Baker posted a 9.775 to tie for seventh. Gabriella Yarussi scored 9.750 to tie for 10th, while Bridget Steffen scored 9.650 (tied-19th). Noelle Harada and Brittney Ranti had matching scores of 9.625 which tied for 21st.
• On balance beam, Towson scored 47.825. Mary Elle Arduino scored 9.850 to tie for eighth. Gabriella Yarussi scored 9.825 to tie for 13th, followed by Tyra McKellar with a score of 9.775 (tied-23rd). Bayleigh Fobes scored 9.225 (31st) and Noelle Harada scored 9.150 (34th).
• Towson posted a team score of 48.625 on floor exercise. Erin Tucker scored 9.800 which tied for 13th. Tyra McKellar scored 9.750 (22nd), followed by Gabriella Yarussi with a 9.725 that tied for 23rd. Bayleigh Fobes and Noelle Harada had matching scores of 9.675 that finished tied for 25th.
• Tyra McKellar placed eighth in the all-around with a score of 39.000 and Gabriella Yarussi finished 10th (38.950).
