TOWSON, Md. ā The Towson University women's track and field program split squads between two meets on Saturday, traveling to the Delaware Open and the Mason Spring Invitational.

Towson, which ranked fifth in the USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Week One Rankings announced on Monday, set a school record at the Delaware Open as
Ksenia Safonova became the first Tiger in program history to toss over 200 ft. in the hammer throw. Safonova had a record toss of 61.78-meters (202'8").

At the Delaware Open, held at the Stuart and Suzanne Grant Stadium, Towson won two events and had 12 top 10 performances. The Tigers also recorded three 2017 Division I ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships qualifying standards.

Towson had five student-athletes compete at the Mason Spring Invitational, hosted at the George Mason Stadium. The Tigers placed 17
th out of 22 teams. The Tigers had three top 10 performances at that meet.

- Naja McAdam posted a height of 1.50m (4'11") in the high jump to finish eighth.
- Brynn Warrington was the runner-up in the pole vault with a mark of 3.50m (11'5.75"). Sarah Bourdon followed in fifth (3.20m/10'6").
- In the shot put, Lauren Coleman took second with a mark of 13.85m (45'5.25"). Her toss qualifies for the ECAC Outdoor Championship. Ksenia Safonova placed fourth (12.75m/41'10") and Taylor Weiss placed 11th (11.20m/36'9").
- Taylor Giles was the runner-up in the discus throw with a toss of 45.28m (148'7"). Her toss was a personal-best and ranks second on the program's all-time list. It also qualifies for the ECAC Outdoor Championship. Taylor Weiss followed in fourth (41.28m/135'5"). Naomi Roth placed 14th (34.36m/112'9").
- Ksenia Safonova won the hammer throw with a school record, facility record and ECAC Outdoor Championship qualifying mark of 61.78m (202'8"). She is the first Tiger in program history to throw over 200 ft. for hammer throw. Lauren Coleman followed in second-place (49.02m/160'10"). Naomi Roth finished 21st (29.21m/95'10").
- Skyler Duncan won javelin with a mark of 41.18m (135'1"). That distance ranks fifth on the program's all-time list. Kaeshelle Ford took fourth (35.88m/117'8").

How it Happened (Mason Spring Invitational Track Events)
- Shelby Bobbie finished 35th in the 1,500m run with a time of 4:50.21.
- Allison Marella timed 17:20.50 in the 5,000m run to place eighth. She was just four seconds off from earning an ECAC Outdoor Championships qualifying time. Megan Knoblock took 13th with a time of 17:36.60.
- In the 3,000m steeplechase, Abby Gauthier finished third (11:15.58). Erica Israel timed 11:24.41 to place fifth.
