Towson Men’s Lacrosse: Dublin Day One

DUBLIN, Ireland – It was a long day of travel for the Towson University men's lacrosse team as the program kicked off its first-ever trip abroad late Tuesday afternoon.

The Tigers, fresh off their first NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship Weekend appearance since 2001, left campus around 5 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, bound for Dulles International Airport on an Academy Bus. Fighting through traffic and weather late in the trip, Towson arrived at the airport around 7 p.m. and just before the Tigers stepped off the bus, it began to pour.

Once the rain-soaked Tigers made it into the terminal, a rainbow appeared over the building, a strong omen before the trip. Towson began the long bag-checking process, but the 10:30 p.m. flight was delayed an hour as heavy thunder and lightning storms passed over the DC Area.

The flight eventually took off around 11:30 p.m. as the Tigers settled in for a long six-and-a-half hour flight over the North Atlantic and towards the western coast of Ireland.

Towson touched down at 11 a.m. local time, or 6 a.m. back on the East Coast. Once money was converted from US Dollars to Euros, all the bags were claimed and loaded onto the bus, the Tigers headed towards their home for the next week.

After checking into StayCity in the heart of Dublin, Towson prepared for a guided walking tour of the city. The Tigers saw various sites, including Trinity College, Dublin City Hall, the Dublin Castle and the Spire of Dublin.

Following the walking tour, Towson enjoyed some down time before dinner at The Riddler. With a long day behind them, the Tigers tucked in early to get ready for their first full day in the Irish Capital City.
