TOWSON, Md. – Shutout wins and a hole-in-one highlight this week's NewDay USA Student-Athlete of the Week on TowsonTigers.com!
Field hockey's
Beira Ho was the NewDay USA Female Student-Athlete of the Week, while men's golfer
William Bachelor was tabbed as the Male Student-Athlete of the Week.
A freshman, Ho totaled three points with a goal and an assist while the Tigers posted their first shutout since 2011 with a 4-0 nonconference victory on the road at LIU Brooklyn Sunday. The Tigers' shutout was the first for the Tigers since a 1-0 win over Northeastern at home on October 31, 2011. It also served as the first Towson victory for head coach
E.A. Jackson.
Bachelor, a junior, hit his first ever hole-in-one on the 158-yard, three-par seventh hole. His performance highlighted the Tigers' strong showing in which they finished sixth overall at the Hartford Hawk Invitational for a second consecutive year. It was the first hole-in-one by a Towson men's golfer since Chris Scialo accomplished the feat in the first round of the 2010 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) championships at the Homestead. Bachelor carded a five-over final round 76 to finish the tournament at four over par.
The next NewDay USA Student-Athlete of the Week honors will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 3 for competition between Sept. 25-Oct. 1. Stay tuned to TowsonTigers.com for highlights and information!
