PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Led by a career high on bars from junior
Mary Elle Arduino, the Towson University women's gymnastics team totaled a season-high 48.875 in the event en route to finishing second Saturday night at a quad meet hosted by Rutgers with Western Michigan and Ursinus at the Rutgers Athletic Center.
Arduino was one of three Tigers who either tied or posted a new career high as Towson totaled its third-highest score of the season with 194.450 points, just 0.350 behind first place Rutgers who had 194.800. Western Michigan was third with 192.650 points and Ursinus was fourth with 188.125.
How It Happened
- Towson began the meet on bars where Arduino totaled a 9.775 to finish sixth. The Tigers finished with the highest scored as ]she was one of four Towson gymnasts in the top-10. Senior Tyra McKellar was third with a 9.850 and senior Cortni Baker joined Arduino in sixth. Senior Katie McGrady was ninth with a 9.750.
- Towson finished second on beam with a 48.400 after three Tigers finished in a tie for seventh. Arduino, McKellar and senior Lauren Cahalan all had a score of 9.700.
- Baker totaled one of her two team-leading scores on floor during the third rotation as she finished third with a 9.825. Cahalan was seventh with a 9.750 and senior Gabriella Yarussi was ninth with a 9.700.
- Baker and Yarussi finished first and second on vault as both tied their career highs. Baker was first with a 9.850 while Yarussi was second with a 9.825. Towson placed four gymnasts in the top 10 as junior Erin Tucker was fourth with a 9.775 and McKellar was 10th with a 9.700.
- Arduino was the lone Tiger to compete in the all-around, finishing second with a 38.550, just behind Rutgers' Belle Huang who had a 38.600.

- The Tigers return to SECU Arena on Friday, March 2 for their annual pink meet where they will host a tri-meet with Rutgers and EAGL rival George Washington beginning at 7 p.m.
