TOWSON, Md. – Mike Morsell has signed a contract to play professionally for Kobrat Lapua, a team located in Finland. Morsell departs September 10.

Korisliiga, the top-tier level league of professional
basketball in
Finland, comprising the top 11 teams of the country.
"I am excited and looking forward to beginning the next step of my basketball career," Morsell said. "I had many offers but the Finnish League was a great league to start my professional career. I am very excited. One of my goals has always been to have the opportunity to play basketball for money. This is a blessing."
Morsell finished his Towson career ranked seventh in program history with 1,523 points. He also ended his memorable career ranked second in 3-point field goal attempts (459), third in 3-pointers made (150), fourth in starts (103) fifth in made free throws (335), sixth in free throw attempts (457) and sixth in program history in field goal attempts (1,218). Morsell is one of seven players in program history to score over 1,500 career points and one of five players in program history to start at least 100 games.
For his career, Morsell, scored in double figures 77 times. He had four games in which he scored 30 or more points including a career best 34 against William & Mary on Feb. 13, 2016. Morsell is a three-time All-CAA honoree. He made four game-winning baskets including one against Manhattan with 1.5 seconds remaining to win the inaugural Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic on Dec. 2, 2017.
This past season in helping Towson post its third consecutive winning season, Morsell was one of two players to start all 32 games. He was Towson's second leading scorer (14.0 points per game) and scored in double figures 25 times, including the Tigers' final 14 games of the season. Morsell was named MVP of the Florida Gulf Coast Showcase and earned CAA Player of the Week honors on Nov. 27.
Morsell scored a season best 31 points against Drexel and made five 3-pointers in a road victory over William & Mary. He had four games in which he scored 20 or more points. He finished with six or more rebounds 10 times, including a season high eight against James Madison and averaged 28.1 minutes and 4.2 rebounds per game.
