– Towson University women's tennis head coach Jamie Peterson
took third place in the men's 45 singles round of the USTA Grass Championships hosted at the Germantown Cricket Club.
Peterson faced Michael Rockower of Rydal, Pennsylvania in the first round and came out with wins of 6-1 and 6-0. In the second round he faced the No. 4 seed Steven Koepple of Stuart, Florida and again was victorious, this time taking a win 6-1 and then 6-2.
In the semifinals he matched up with the No. 1 seed Jason Wilks and fell 6-3 and 6-4. Peterson won the playoff for third-place and Bronze Ball recognition. He was paired with former UVA tennis player Taylor Hamilton for doubles action, but the duo fell in the first round. Peterson and Hamilton then went on to finish fifth by winning the backdraw.
This is the coach's second big win of the summer after he finished second in the CVITT 45 Singles in early June, and it is Peterson's first-ever Bronze Ball.
