TOWSON, Md. – New Towson University football head coach
Pete Shinnick has welcomed in 10 new players as part of his first recruiting class on National Signing Day.
Shinnick was hired as Towson head coach on Dec. 11, 2022 and brings in the first wave of new players in preparation for the 2023 campaign.
"We are excited about this first group of signees, both our incoming freshmen and mid-year enrollees," said Shinnick. "We look forward to adding more to this class and we are excited about the future of Towson football."

In 2022, Towson won its final four games to finish the season at 6-5 overall and 4-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Alijah Bivans – Inside Linebacker – 5-11, 220 – Sophomore – Salisbury, Md./Coffeyville C.C.
Bivans returns to the state of Maryland after a season at Coffeyville Community College, where he earned 55 tackles in 11 games for the No. 5 ranked team in NJCAA play. An Eastern Shore native, the former football and track standout at Parkside High earned a spot with Team Washington in the 2019 Maryland Crab Bowl.
Shamir Boyd – Defensive Line – 6-2, 290 – Freshman – Voorhees, N.J./Eastside H.S.
From southern New Jersey comes Boyd, a two-way player at Eastside High at defensive tackle and offensive tackle. Boyd earned Second Team All-New Jersey and First Team All-South Jersey in 2021, helping the Eastside Tigers to three consecutive sectional titles.
KJ Brooks – Offensive Line – 6-3, 290 – Freshman – Olney, Md./Our Lady of Good Counsel
Brooks takes the short trek from the D.C. area to be at Towson. A standout from Good Counsel in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), he earned 2021 WCAC Honorable Mention at offensive line, helping the Falcons to eight victories and a second-place league finish in 2022.
Sean Brown – Quarterback – 6-2, 200 – Redshirt Junior – Apex, N.C./Liberty University
Brown transfers to Towson after three seasons at Liberty University, appearing in two games as a freshman. Out of Middle Creek High in North Carolina, Brown was a three-star recruit by ESPN and 247Sports.com, being a two-time All-4A East Conference 29 quarterback with over 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns in his final two seasons with the Mustangs.
R.J Evans – Defensive Line – 6-1, 285 – Redshirt Junior – High Point, N.C./University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Evans comes to Towson after a year at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, earning 32 tackles in 11 games on the defensive line in 2022, including four games with at least four tackles. He previously played two seasons with Navarro C.C., including 27 tackles as a sophomore, after a strong high school career at High Point Christian.
Matthieu Longa – Inside Linebacker – 6-1, 200 – Freshman – Gaithersburg, Md./Quince Orchard H.S.
Longa gets ready to suit up for Towson after leading Quince Orchard High to a pair of 4A Maryland state titles the past two years, leading the Cougars in tackles in the 2022 championship game to complete a 14-0 season. His play earned him 2022 MCPS 4A First Team recognition at inside linebacker.
Ian Markham-Miller – Offensive Line – 6-3, 300 – Freshman – Washington, D.C./St. John's College H.S.
Markham-Miller comes from St. John's College in the nation's capital, joining alums
Jamal Gay and
Xavier Terry. In 2022, he helped St. John's with the WCAC Capital Championship with a victory over DeMatha for an eight-win season, later being named Prep Predzone MD All-State Team at offensive line.
Rion Roseborough – Defensive Line – 6-2, 315 – Freshman – Greenville, N.C./John Paul Catholic II H.S.
Roseborough comes to Towson after being the two-time
Daily Reflector John Paul Catholic II Boys' Athlete of the Fall. Competing at running back for the Saints, he rushed for 2,501 yards in 2022 en route to John Paul II's third straight state title game appearance. Also the school's top shot put and discus thrower, he will be a defensive lineman for Towson.
Tylen Wallace – Defensive Line – 6-3, 300 – Graduate Student – Kansas City, Mo./Missouri Western State University
Wallace will play his final year of collegiate football for Towson after five years at Missouri Western State. Playing in 30 career games, he finished with 58 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss, including being 2022 All-MIAA Honorable Mention with 20 tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss. Previous to college, he was a standout football player and wrestler at Schlagle High.
Caden Williams – Kicker/Punter – 6-2, 175 – Sophomore – Allen, Texas/University of West Florida
Williams will continue to play under coach Shinnick as a transfer from West Florida. As a freshman at UWF last year, Williams was the kickoff specialist, averaging 61.7 yards a kick and having 33 touchbacks. At Allen High, Williams earned Class 6A First Team All-Texas and First Team All-District honors in 2021.
