RICHMOND, Va. – After tieing a school record with four field goals in the victory over Delaware, kicker
Sam Hurwitz was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Specialist of the Week, it was announced Monday.
The senior was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts, and accounted for 13 of the Tigers 19 points in the shutout victory. He got the team on the board early in the second quarter with a 34-yard field goal, then closed out the first half with a 39-yarder as time expired.
Hurwitz was responsible for all of the scoring in the second half, connecting from 27 yards in the third quarter, and 39 yards in the fourth quarter.
Hurwitz tied the record of Jerome Nolan that was set against C.W. Post on September 29, 1984.
On the season, Hurwitz is 8-for-9 on field-goal attempts, with his only miss coming from 51 yards.
