2016-17 Tiger Top 10: No. 10 A Record Breaking Assist

TOWSON, Md. – The 2016-17 school year provided Towson Tiger fans with plenty of exciting moments on the court, on the field, the course and in the pool. The Top 10 kicks off with a record breaking moment on the lacrosse field.

Every great team needs a strong quarterback to keep its offense running smoothly.

On May 5, the quarterback of the Towson women's lacrosse team, senior attacker Samantha Brookhart, made history.

Brookhart, who had already tied the Towson record for single-game assists (six) twice and set the school record for single-season assists, entered the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) semifinals with a chance to make more history.

The Ellicott City, Maryland native entered the game needing just three assists to set the CAA single-season assists record and the Towson career assists mark.

Brookhart picked up a pair of first half helpers, which allowed her to tie both marks.

History was made at 26:47 of the second half as Brookhart found a cutting Jenna Kerr with a pass and Kerr scored. That helper, her third of the day, gave her 50 for the season and 92 for her career. Brookhart broke Monica Zabel's (JMU 2012) CAA record of 49 assists in a single-season. She also surpassed Ashleigh Rohrback (2010-14) on the career assists list at Towson.

Brookhart finished that game with five assists and the season with 55 assists. She finished the year ranked second in the nation in total assists and fourth in assists per game (2.89).
Brookhart finished her career with 97 total assists.
