TOWSON, Md. - The 2014-15 school year saw plenty of success on the field, on the court and in the pool for the Tiger Athletics Department. TowsonTigers.com is looking back at the Top 10 moments from the 2014-15 year.
The past year proved to be a balanced one across the board as voting by members of the athletics staff saw 26 different moments receive a vote and 13 of the 19 teams be recognized in either the Top 10 or the honorable mention.
The Top 10 moves into the top five as one Tiger received that phone call that every athlete dreams about, the chance to take their game to the next level.
Cornerback
Tye Smith had an incredibly strong Tiger career and he capped it with a spectacular senior season.
Smith, a 2014 first team All-CAA selection, routinely shut down one side of the field as one of the best cover corners in the nation. As the final cornerback standing on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List earlier this season, Smith led the Tigers with eight pass break-ups. He started all 12 games during his senior season, and his 85 tackles ranked second on the team. Smith ended his career with 312 tackles, the fifth most in Tiger football history.
On May 2, Smith got a chance to take his game to the next level when he was selected in the fifth round of the NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks.
Smith became the sixth player in program history to hear his name called on draft day. He joins former Tigers –
Terrance West,
Jermon Bushrod,
David Meggett,
Tony Vinson and
Randy Bielski, who heard their name called on draft day.
