Lauren Coleman set an indoor school record for the shot put to help the Towson University indoor track and field program finish third at the Towson Tiger Invitational on Saturday. The meet, which was hosted by the Tigers at the Armory Foundation in New York City, featured 14 teams. Coleman finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 13.33-meters (43’8.75”), a program record. The previous indoor shot put record holder was Shannel Shivers (13.28m, 43’7”) in 2012. Coleman also finished seventh in the weight throw (13.78m, 45’2.5”).
As a team, Towson recorded 22 top 10 finishes at the meet and three Tigers recorded qualifying marks for the 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) DI Indoor Track & Field Championship Meet. The Tigers also earned 14 spots in the program’s top 10 list.
