Payton Windell had a special moment to cap a Senior Day win for the Tigers over Delaware. The Indiana native suffered a season-ending injury just four matches into her final year with the Black and Gold. Head coach Don Metil wanted to give his senior one more moment in the final home match of the year. 
 
On Thursday, Windell was cleared by her doctors to enter Sunday’s match and serve the first ball of the contest. She ended up serving the first two balls of the match and then was subbed out thinking that was it. Leading 24-17 in the third set and 2-0 in the match, Metil wanted to give his senior one more shot. Windell was subbed in and delivered a service ace to close out the Tigers’ 3-0 win over Delaware. Windell was mobbed by her teammates once the ball hit the floor.
