Becky Schaller

Becky Schaller is in her fourth season as an assistant gymnastics coach.

After graduating from Michigan State in 1999 with a bachelor’s in kinesiology, she spent five years as an assistant optional coach and a compulsory coach at Harford Gymnastics Club. In 2003, she was promoted to head optional coach where she coached for Teresa (Arnold) DiMauro, a former Tiger gymnast and a member of the Towson University Athletic Hall of Fame.

She spent one season with Towson Gymnastics as a volunteer assistant before officially joining the staff in 2011.

A four-year standout for Coach Kathie Klages, she was an all-around performer who helped the Spartans to a 27-3 record and a second-place finish in the Big Ten Conference as a freshman.

As a sophomore, she was a member of a Spartans team that posted an 18-13 record and won the USA Gymnastics NIT championship. In her junior season, she contributed to the Spartans’ 23-6 record.

During her career at Michigan State, she was one of the team’s top beam and bars workers. She had a career high 9.90 on beam and a 9.85 on bars. Her career high all-around score was 38.675. As a senior, she was a medical intern with USA Gymnastics team physician Dr. Larry Nassar.

Schaller was one of the top scholastic gymnasts in the state of Maryland while competing for Harford Gymnastics Club. A competitor at Harford from 1985 to 1995, she was the United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs (USAIGC) national all-around champion in 1992.

A two-time USA Gymnastics Level 10 national qualifier, she was the national champion on floor exercise in 1990 and 1993. An Elite National Qualifier who won national championships on bars (1991) and beam (1993), she graduated from Fallston High School in 1995.

During her collegiate career, she served as a counselor at the Michigan State Gymnastics Camp. She was also an optional coach at the Great Lakes Gymnastics Club for a year.

Schaller resides in Forest Hill with her husband, Chris, a former lacrosse player at Michigan State and Penn State. They are the parents of two sons.
