In late August 2019, Towson University head men's lacrosse coach Shawn Nadelen announced the addition of Matt Musci. Musci serves as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator.
Over the course of his career, Musci has mentored four players who have gone on to play in the professional ranks: Jarrod Neumann, James Barclays, Brendan Kearns and Tate Boyce.
2025 saw the Tigers win their second straight CAA Tournament and undefeated CAA regular season, led by CAA Offensive Player of the Year and Third Team All-American Mikey Weisshaar, who had 48 goals and 72 points, each ranking in the top-seven in Towson single season history. In addition, Ronan Fitzpatrick was the CAA Rookie of the Year, the program's first since 2004, with 43 goals at attack. Chop Gallagher joined Weisshaar on the All-CAA First Team plus was an All-American Honorable Mention by the USILA and USA Lacrosse.
2024 saw Musci coach the seventh-ranked scoring offense in DI at 14.53 goals per game, led by a pair of All-Americans: Mikey Weisshaar notched Inside Lacrosse Media First Team All-American at midfielder, also being USILA Second Team All-American and USA Lacrosse Third Team All-American, while Nick DeMaio was Honorable Mention All-America by Inside Lacrosse, USILA and USA Lacrosse, also being the CAA Offensive Player of the Year. Each DeMaio and Weisshaar earned First Team All-CAA. The Tigers won the CAA Tournament for the first time since 2019 and earned an undefeated CAA regular season for the first time since 2004.
In 2023, Musci's offense helped Towson earn a CAA Tournament berth with three freshmen starting combined in the attack unit and first midfield, averaging 11.93 goals per game. Three offensive players earned All-CAA recognition and three more earned All-Rookie Team. Five players notched at least 24 points, including Nick DeMaio leading the team with 50 points off 29 goals and 21 assists. First Team All-CAA midfielder Kyle Berkeley had a team lead of 31 goals, adding 16 assists.
Guiding Towson's offense through one of the most uncertain times in college athletics, Musci has continued to help the Tiger offense drive forward. Over the course of his first three seasons with the program, Towson's offense has produced two goals more per game on average, jumping from 7.00 goals per game in the shortened 2020 season to 11.25 goals per game in 2022. It marked the first time since 2019 the Tigers averaged better than 10 goals per game.
Since arriving at Towson, Musci has helped mentor 12 All-CAA selections, including six First Team honorees: Mikey Weisshaar (2024, 2025), Nick DeMaio (2024), Chop Gallagher (2025), Kyle Berkeley (2023), James Avanzato (2022) and Ryan Swain (2021), in addition to six All-Rookie selections: Andrew Milani, 2021; Chop Gallagher, 2022, three in 2023: Ryan Schrier, Joaquin Villagomez and Mikey Weisshaar, plus Ronan Fitzpatrick in 2025.

He implemented individual skill development plans for the attackmen and midfielders. He was charged to recruit elite-level student-athletes while building relationships with high school and club coaches. While working with the Friars, Musci helped guide the team to 10 wins in the 2017 season, tied for the most single-season wins in program history. That year, Providence earned its first top 20 national ranking. Over the course of his time in Rhode Island, Providence had several BIG EAST weekly honor winners, berths in the league tournament, All-BIG EAST selections and an All-BIG EAST Attackman.
Prior to Providence, Musci spent time at Lafayette College. He arrived in Easton, Pennsylvania as an assistant coach in August 2012 and was elevated to associate head coach/offensive coordinator in August 2015. He created and executed offensive skills and game plans, organized and directed the man-up offense and created individual offensive skill sessions. He also assisted in generating practice plans. While in Easton, he helped secure commitments from multiple high school All-Americans. From September 2008 to August 2012, Musci was the first assistant lacrosse coach/recruiting coordinator at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Florida. He served as the defensive coordinator from 2008-11 before moving to the offensive side from 2011-12. While in Florida, Musci earned his Master of Business Administration, graduating in May 2011.
