Tigers Fall to Maryland and UMBC in Double Dual Meet

COLLEGE PARK, Md. ? Junior Bradley Bolin swept both diving events, but the Tiger men's swimming and diving team was unable to overcome a strong effort from the University of Maryland and UMBC in a double dual meet at the Terrapins' Eppley Recreation Center Natatorium on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers lost to UMBC by a 168-132 margin while dropping a 197-99 decision against host Maryland.

Bolin scored 239.85 points in the one-meter event before scoring 264.20 points in the three-meter event. Junior Zachary Wolfe was second in the three-meter event with 200.45 points while earning a second place finish in the one-meter event with 218.45 points.

Senior Eric Pinno earned first place in the 50-yard freestyle in 20.57 seconds while finishing in first place in the 100-yard freestyle in 45.32 seconds.

Sophomore Zac Jelinek finished in fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.12. Meanwhile, senior Ryan Godfrey earned third place in the 200-yard breaststroke, competing the race in a time of 2:09.93.

Senior Gordon Amato turned in a solid effort in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing second in the event with a time of 1:56.43.

The Tigers will travel to Bucknell University next weekend for the Bucknell Invitational, which they won last season.
