BOSTON, Mass. ? The Towson volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Delaware in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament on Saturday night in Boston. The Tigers finish the season at 19-12 while Delaware improves to 17-15 and will face Virginia Commonwealth on Sunday.
The Tigers dropped the first set of the match by a 25-16 score. Delaware hit .222 in the first set en route to the early lead. Towson rebounded in the second set for a 25-22 victory and evened the match at one set a piece. Delaware took a 2-1 lead in the match with a 25-17 victory in set number three. The Blue Hens claimed victory in the match with a 25-17 win in set four.
Sophomore Katee Luecke led the Tigers with her 11th “double-double” performance of the season. Luecke posted 26 assists and 13 digs on the match. Senior Kristina Shannon contributed a team-high 16 digs on the night while fellow senior Ally Perko just missed a “double-double” finishing with nine kills and 11 digs. The Tigers finished with 10 team blocks in the match led by sophomore Shelynne Hoyt's six block assists. Freshman Susan Gansor had four block assists to go with her seven kills and hit .316.
