Tigers Earn Split on Day One of NIU Invite II

DEKALB, Ill. - The Tiger volleyball team went 1-1 on day one of the NIU Invite II, hosted by Northern Illinois. The Tigers (6-3) fell to Northen Illinois 3-0 in the opener and defeated Bradley 3-1 in the nightcap.

The Huskies defeated the Tigers 25-21, 25-20 and 25-14 in the morning match. The Tigers were led by senior Maddie Haseltine who finished with 14 kills, hit .542 and had two block assists. Sophomore Katee Luecke dished out 30 assists in the match while junior Missy Rohrbaugh recorded nine digs. Sophomore Britney Loomis had six digs for the Tigers in the contest. Northern Illinois was led by Meagan Schoenrock had 18 kills and hit .586 for the match. Amanda Tadla had 33 assists while Maddie Hughes posted 10 digs.

Against Bradley,Towson won the first two games by scores of 25-22 and 25-20. Bradley came back to win game three by a 26-24 margin. Towson clinched the victory with a 25-22 win in game four. Haseltine posted the "double-double" with 18 kills and 10 digs. Rohrbaugh finished with 21 digs while Luecke handed out 44 assists. Junior Alysha Fanning posted 10 kills and five block assists while Loomis had 12 kills and eight digs.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday, September 13 for day two of the NIU Invite II. The Tigers will face Fairfield in the morning match and Loyola-Chicago to wrap up the tournament.
