TOWSON, Md. - Delaware hit .306 in the third set to help secure a 3-0 win over the Tigers on Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association play at the Towson Center. Evan Schulz led the Tigers (8-10, 1-2 CAA) with her second straight "double-double".
"I'm disappointed with the outcome tonight but I thought our energy level was a little better," said Coach Paul Koncir. "I thought Evan played well for us tonight and I know we are really going to work hard to get where we need to be."
Delaware jumped out to an early lead in the first set with a 7-3 advantage and extended it to 15-5 following a Tiger timeout. The Blue Hens would claim a 25-15 win in set one. In the second set, the two teams battled each other early. With the score tied at 15-15, Delaware would go on a run to take a 19-16 lead and by scoring 10 of the final 14 points in the set, claim a 25-19 win. In the third set the two teams battled through 13 ties and six lead changes before Delaware came away with the 25-17 win.
Schulz posted her second straight "double-double" and third of the season after finishing with 14 assists and 15 digs. Alysha Fanning hit .294 with eight kills and a solo block in the match. Missy Rohrbaugh led all players with 17 digs in the contest.
Delaware got 28 assists from Jess Chason and 13 digs from Stephanie Barry. Kim Stewart and Michelle LaLonde contributed nine kills apiece.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, October 9 when they host Northeastern at 5 p.m.
