TOWSON, Md. - The Tigers dropped a 3-0 decision to George Mason in Colonial Athletic Association play on Saturday night in the Towson Center. Towson (8-8, 1-1 CAA) got six kills and 10 digs from Amanda Halls in the loss.
"We showed a tenative side tonight and it cost us," said Coach Paul Koncir. "We need to go out and play with the attitude we had Friday night and really put it all out there and on the line for the rest of the CAA season."
The Patriots (12-5, 1-1 CAA) captured the early lead in the match with a 25-20 victory in the first set. George Mason jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the set and never trailed the rest of the set. Mason extended its lead with a 25-21 win in the second set. The Patriots and Tigers battled through nine ties, the last one coming at 19-19 before a Noelle Fanella kill gave the Patriots a lead they would not give up the rest of the way. George Mason took the match with a 25-14 win in the third set.
In addition to Halls' performance, the Tigers got 15 assists and seven digs from Evan Schulz. Missy Rohrbaugh had a team-high 11 digs while Katee Luecke added 11 assists. Britney Loomis led the team with seven kills.
Fanella led George Mason with nine kills and eight digs while Holly Goode finished with eight kills and nine digs. Fernanda Bartels had a match-high 25 assists and nine digs while Katrina Boryc finished with 12 digs.
The Tigers return to action on Tuesday, September 29 when they play their final non-conference contest of the season at UMBC. Match time for the cross-town contest is set at 7 p.m.
