Tigers Down Loyola (Md.) 3-1

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Tigers improved to 2-0 in the Battle of Baltimore Tournament with a 3-1 win over Loyola (Md.) on Friday night in Annapolis. Towson (4-2) has now won three straight matches with the victory.

"I'm happy with the total team effort we put forth tonight," said Coach Paul Koncir. "I would have preferred that we not have to go four sets in the last match but happy that the team battled and toughed it out in the third and fourth sets." 

The Tigers jumped out to an early lead with a 25-19 win in set one of the match. The Greyhounds bounced back and used a 25-21 win in set two to even the match at 1-1. Towson came out strong in the third set and claimed victory with a 25-19 win. Towson secured victory in the match with a 25-23 win in the fourth set.

Britney Loomis had a 11 kills and hit .290 while Katee Luecke contributed 24 assists. Evan Schulz chipped in with 18 assists while Missy Rohrbaugh had a team-high 15 digs. Amanda Halls posted eight kills and nine digs for the Tigers and I'ishah Keliikoa finished with 12 kills and hit .310

Nina Camaioni had a match-high 23 kills for Loyola while Aubrey Kirven finished with 43 assists.

The Battle of Baltimore Tournament continues on Saturday, September 5 when the action shifts to the Towson Center. There will be five matches on Saturday, starting with Towson vs. Morgan State at 10 a.m.
