WASHINGTON, D.C. - After
the team's opening dual-meet of the season against William & Mary Oct. 8,
the Tigers (1-1, 0-1 CAA) won their first dual-meet of the year, a 156-135
defeat of Georgetown University Saturday.
"It was a great win," Towson Coach Pat Mead said. "Georgetown put up a great
fight. It's all a matter of gaining confidence and knowing we can win. This was
truly two evenly matched teams. Our guys really stepped up at the end of the
meet."
Freshmen Jon Burr and Andy Disco, and diver Alex Cohen stood out for Towson in the victory.
Cohen won both diving events in the meet to for the Tigers. Zack Stone also won the 200-yard freestyle
for Towson.
Disco won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.88,
won the 200-yard breaststroke and also was part of a relay team that won the
200-yard medley for the Tigers.
Burr was victorious in the 200-yard butterfly event, while
also posting top-three finishes in two other events.
The Tigers will return to action Saturday, Nov. 5, when the
team will host a POD meet as part of a two-day event. The meet will begin at
9:30 a.m. Saturday.
