PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Karolina Sawaniewicz posted a team-high 10 kills to lead the Towson University volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over La Salle on Tuesday night in Philadelphia. The Tigers improved to 4-1 on the year with the victory.
Katy Buck and I'ishah Keliikoa posted three kills apiece in the first set to lead the Tigers to a 25-18 victory and an early advantage in the match. The two squads battle through seven ties and four lead changes in the second set before Towson claimed the 25-19 victory. In the third set, Towson held La Salle to a -0.22 hitting percentage and recorded a 25-17 win to claim the match.
Sawaniewicz hit .231 in the match for the Tigers with the 10 kills. Aubrey Kirven recorded 20 assists and three digs while Buck contributed eight kills and 13 digs. Paige Sekerak posted a match-high 24 digs as Susan Gansor had six kills and four blocks. Evan Schulz contributed 12 digs off the bench.
Kelly Scanlon led La Salle with 12 kills while teammate Kourtney Clark posted 21 assists and seven digs. .
Towson returns to action on Friday, September 2 when the Battle of Baltimore Tournament begins in the Towson Center. The Tigers will host Coppin State at 3:00 p.m. and Morgan State at 6:00 p.m.
