TOWSON, Md. - Although there are still plenty of good seats available for Towson University's Homecoming Football Game on Saturday at 7 p.m. vs. Colgate University, the University has announced that fans coming to the game without reserved parking permits are advised to take advantage of the free parking options throughout the main campus.
Due to the Alumni Homecoming Tailgate Festival in Lot 21, reserved parking for season ticketholders in Lot 13 and student tailgating in Lot 14, those lots and the vehicular entrance to Auburn Drive will not be accessible without a parking permit this week, but there is plenty of additional parking available for free in the campus garages.
Free parking is available at the University Union garage, located at the corner of Osler Drive and Cross Campus Drive. Additional parking can be found at the Glen garage located on Cross Campus and the Towsontown Garage, located on Towsontown Boulevard. Please follow posted signs to available General parking.
Although both garages are only a short walk from Unitas Stadium, shuttle buses will be available to transport fans to Minnegan Field at Johnny Unitas® Stadium.
Fans are encouraged to arrive at the game well before kickoff in anticipation of another large crowd. The Tigers' first two home games have drawn 17,455 fans to Unitas Stadium.
Off to their best start since the 2007 season, the Tigers have posted impressive victories over Morgan State and Villanova in their first two games of the year. On Sept. 3, the Tigers opened the season with a 42-3 victory over Morgan State and followed it up the next week with a 31-10 win over No. 20 Villanova in the Colonial Athletic Association opener for both teams.
Under the direction of Coach Rob Ambrose, the Tigers have been list among "others receiving votes" in the NCAA FCS Top 25 poll the last two weeks. With their 2-0 record, the Tigers are one of nine NCAA FCS teams that have played more than one game and are undefeated.
The Tigers, who have outscored their first two opponents by a combined 73-13 margin, are one of the best NCAA FCS defensive teams in the nation, according to the NCAA Statistics. In two games, the Tigers have allowed only 6.5 points per game and rank second in the nation behind North Dakota State (4.5 points per game). Allowing 260 total yards per game, the Tiger defense is ranked 10th in the nation.
