NORFOLK, Va. - Sophomore Matt Lowe and freshman Matt McKenney each set pool records as the Tigers completed a Colonial Athletic Association POD meet against Old Dominion and George Mason Saturday.
"We did a tremendous job this afternoon," Towson head coach Pat Mead said. "To see our kids' faces when they see their times and knowing that we are earning respect in the conference, that's probably the most rewarding part for me as a coach."
Lowe established a pool record with a time of 16:00.73. The Tigers had the top three overall finishers in the event as senior Zack Stone finished second and sophomore Jon Burr third.
Freshman Matt McKenney also had a strong showing in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing only behind Old Dominion's Sidni Hoxha. McKenney timed 21.35 in the event on Friday. Saturday, McKenney set a pool record in the 200-yard butterfly and won the event.
On the diving boards, senior Alex Cohen continued his early season success by winning the one-meter competition with 274.30 points Friday.
Towson will return to Burdick Pool Saturday, Nov. 10 against George Washington for a meet at 1 p.m.
