TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team extended its win streak to five straight matches with a 3-0 victory over Loyola on Tuesday night in the Towson Center. Five Tigers (5-0) recorded at least five kills in the match for a balanced attack.

“I'm pleased to get the three-set victory tonight,” said Tiger coach Bruce Atkinson. “I thought tonight also showed us some things that we need to work on moving forward.”

Towson jumped out to an early 15-11 lead in the first set behind a kill from senior Marta Machos. Loyola (2-2) pulled to within 19-17 before two kills from junior Dayane Van Ass and one from senior Aubrey Kirven helped the home team secure the 25-20 set win. The second set proved to be the tightest of the contest as there were 11 ties and four lead changes in the set. Tied at 14-14, the Tigers scored six of the next eight points to take a 20-16 lead in the set. Towson would go on to post the 25-20 set victory and take a 2-0 lead in the match. In the third set, the Tigers jumped out to a quick 9-5 lead and extended their advantage to 17-12 on back-to-back blocks.
