Towson Splits With Georgetown, William & Mary

WASHINGTON, D.C.- The Towson University men's swimming and diving team competed in its first road dual meets of the season on Saturday afternoon, defeating the host Georgetown Hoyas 205-79 but falling to William & Mary 162-122.

The Tigers (3-1, 0-1 CAA) got outstanding performances from a trio of freshmen to lead a strong overall performance. Towson has already matched its total wins from last season with the victory over Georgetown.

"The freshmen are leading the way and making us a much improved men's team," Tiger Head Coach Pat Mead said.  "We need a bit more production from our upperclassmen."

Nick Breschi, Brandon Ress and Jeremy Liu were strong for the Tigers. Breschi was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 52.76 and second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:55.30.

Ress won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:41.77, while Liu won the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.78.

In the 500-yard freestyle, junior Matt Lowe won with a time of 4:39.62. Lowe also won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:53.98.

The Tigers next face Old Dominion next Saturday at home beginning at 1 p.m.
