TOWSON, Md. - Towson University's own Dr. Maggie Reitz has been selected to serve as the university's new vice-provost. Reitz is a Faculty Fellow that works with the Tiger cross-country team.

Reitz earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees in occupational therapy from Towson University before completing her Ph.D. at the University of Maryland. She has served for 15 years as chair of Towson University's Department of Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, and was most recently the director of the department's professional master's degree program.

“I am delighted that Dr. Maggie Reitz has agreed to serve as vice-provost,” said Provost Tim Chandler. “She has had a long and successful career at Towson as a student, faculty member and department chair, and is thus well-placed to step into the big shoes left by Jim DiLisio in his well-earned retirement.”

Before returning to Towson as faculty, Reitz spent 10 years practicing occupational therapy at Greater Southeast Community Hospital in Washington, D.C.

“I am humbled and excited to have been selected to serve as the next vice-provost of the university I so love,” said Reitz. “I look forward to using my experiences as an alum, faculty member, parent and chair to assist the provost in fostering an environment that supports the scholarly growth of students and faculty.”

Reitz was selected after an internal search chaired by Cook Library Dean Debbie Nolan. Reitz will assume the duties of vice-provost upon DiLisio's retirement, on January 1, 2014.
