HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Towson University football team had its seven-game Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) road winning streak snapped with a 62-7 setback against James Madison in front of 24,113 fans at Bridgeforth Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers, who had won 13 of their last 14 road games, fall to 2-5 overall and 0-3 in the CAA. James Madison won its second straight game to improve to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in league play.
James Madison used a pair of first quarter touchdown passes from quarterback
Vad Lee to race out to an early 13-0 lead. The Dukes defense accounted for all of the big plays in the second half as a
Rhakeem Stallings 27-yard fumble return for a touchdown and a
Jimmy Moreland 26-yard interception return for a touchdown gave JMU a 27-0 halftime lead.
Towson running back
Darius Victor got the Tigers on the board with a one-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, but the Tiger offense wouldn't seriously threaten the remainder of the game. The touchdown run was Victor's seventh of the year, matching his total from last season.
Senior wide receiver
Spencer Wilkins caught a team-high seven passes for 57 yards. Redshirt sophomore
Jordan Mynatt led the Tigers with 10 tackles while senior
Ryan Delaire had five tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble.
Towson remains on the road next Saturday at rival Delaware. The game, set to kickoff at 12:30 p.m., can be seen live on Comcast SportsNet and will also be broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1300.
