DOVER, Del. – The Towson University volleyball team hit .459 en route to a 3-0 victory at Delaware State on Tuesday night in non-conference action. The Tigers (20-3) extended their current win streak to six straight matches and won their 20th match of the season, doubling the win total from a year ago.
Back-to-back kills from junior
Haley Pa'akaula helped the Tigers open up a 6-3 lead in the first set. A kill from senior
Saitaua Iosia pushed the Tiger advantage to 14-9. A pair of kills from senior
Victoria Williams extended the Towson lead to 18-11. Towson eventually closed out the first set, 25-13 on a kill from Pa'akaula.
Pa'akaula had seven first set kills to lead the Tigers, who hit .643 for the set.
Towson took a 4-1 lead in the second on a service ace from Iosia. A kill from redshirt sophomore
Candace Steadman gave the Tigers a 9-6 advantage. A 4-0 run from the visitors highlighted by a pair of service aces and a kill from Iosia pushed Towson's lead to 15-8. A kill from
Jasmine Jackson pulled Delaware State to within five, 18-13. The two teams continued to battle before an attack error from the Hornets closed out a 25-17 set win for the Tigers. Towson took a 2-0 lead in the match.

Lindsay Flaherty each had three kills in the set while Iosia added three service aces.
Four straight kills from Iosia helped Towson take a 5-1 lead to start the third set. A kill from Pa'akaula pushed the Towson lead to 10-3. A block for Delaware State pulled the home team to within four, 15-11. Towson scored four of the next five points and took a 19-12 lead in the set. That late run was capped by a kill from sophomore
Taylor Huewe. The two squads continued to battle before a kill from freshman
Payton Windell closed out a 25-19 Towson set win and victory in the match.
Iosia had nine kills in the third set while junior
Kyana Miller dished out 11 assists.
Iosia, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week, tallied a match-high 15 kills to go with six digs and three service aces. Williams and Pa'akaula each contributed 10 kills and two digs. Miller had 13 assists while redshirt junior
Aimee Schubert contributed 11 helpers. Senior
Paige Sekerak had a match-high nine digs.
Jae Jackson led Delaware State with eight kills while
Natalia Mendieta had 11 assists.
Towson looks to extend its win streak to seven straight when it travels to Delaware on Friday, Oct. 24 for a 7 p.m. match. The Tigers begin their second run through the CAA schedule in second place, tied with College of Charleston. The Blue Hens are just one game back.
