One More To Wrap Up The Road Trip: Towson wraps up a four-match road trip with a visit to Delaware on Friday, Oct. 24. The Tigers begin their second run through the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule with this match.
Scouting the Tigers: Towson won its sixth straight match with a 3-0 victory at Delaware State on Tuesday night. A balanced team effort in the win was highlighted by 15 kills from senior
Saitaua Iosia. Iosia leads the Tigers with 315 kills, 161 digs, 35 service aces and 36 blocks. Junior
Haley Pa'akaula had 10 kills in the win and now has 251 kills, 190 digs, 37 blocks and 27 service aces. Redshirt junior
Aimee Schubert has dished out a team-high 482 assists while senior
Paige Sekerak has 300 digs. Sophomores
Lindsay Flaherty and
Candace Steadman have 79 and 74 blocks, respectively.
Looking at Our Opponent: Delaware, who is 12-11, 5-3 CAA, enters Friday's match riding a four-match win streak.
Autumn Jenkins led the Blue Hens with 15 kills in the win over Elon last time out.
Katie Hillman tops the Blue Hens with 254 kills, 196 digs and 29 service aces. Jenkins has contributed 226 kills and 177 digs.
Julia Anderson has distributed 528 assists while
Taylor Hollingsworth has posted 419 digs.
Series History: Friday's match will be the second this season between the Tigers and Blue Hens. Towson claimed a 3-0 victory when the two squads met in September.
Saitaua Iosia led Towson with 16 kills and 11 digs while
Katie Hillman had 10 kills and five digs for Delaware. Delaware holds a slim 38-37 edge in the all-time series. Towson has won two straight in the match-up and six of the last seven.
I'm Honored: Senior
Saitaua Iosia was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. It is the second time this season Iosia has earned the honor. Iosia had 45 kills (5.00 per set) and hit .393 in a pair of road wins. She also added 17 digs. She is the third Tiger to earn CAA Offensive Player of the Week honors this season (Iosia-twice,
Victoria Williams and
Haley Pa'akaula).
Lucky Number Twenty: The win over Delaware State was the Tigers' 20th victory of the season. Towson is the first CAA team to win 20 matches this season. It is the 17th time in program history that a Tiger squad has won at least 20 matches in a season. The victory also allowed the Tigers to double their win total from a year ago with eight matches remaining in the regular season.
Up Next: Following Friday's action at Delaware, the Tigers return home for a huge three-match homestand. The Tigers host Northeastern on Thursday, Oct. 30, first-place Hofstra on Friday, Oct. 31 and College of Charleston on Sunday, Nov. 2. Towson will bring a perfect 10-0 record at home into that action.
