BOX SCORE BOSTON - The Towson women's soccer team ran into one of the nation's top defensive teams in Northeastern as the Tigers fell, 4-0, to the Huskies Friday evening in Brookline, Mass.

The Huskies are the No. 3 team in the NCAA in goals-against average (0.24) this week and are now tied for the national lead in total shutouts (10).

Northeastern (8-3-2, 3-0 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA)) got on the board in the sixth minute when Kayla Cappuzzo sent a cross into the box from the left where it found the head of Lahaina Zoller. She put it near post to send the Huskies ahead, 1-0. NU upped the pressure, forcing senior Tiger keeper Erin Quinn to make two good saves on ensuing up-close shots.

Towson (3-6-2, 0-2 CAA) made several forays into the Huskies' defensive end in the first half, culminating in two shots from senior co-captain Sofia Read. However, the score remained the same going into halftime.

The Tigers started the second half with the same offensive pressure with which they began the game, but keeping possession continued to be a problem. In the 58th minute, Cappuzzo's toe-poke from six yards out found the back of the net to give Northeastern a 2-0 lead.

Towson made a great attempt to get one back almost immediately after the second Husky goal, but the shot sailed just high left of the corner of the goal. However, NU's Mackenzie Dowd's header off a set piece at 62:17 after a Towson foul sealed the win for Northeastern. In the 84th minute, Breeana Koemans took a perfectly aimed shot from 26 yards that freshman goalkeeper Taylor Sebalao could do nothing about for the final scoreline.

The Tigers return to action on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m. against Hofstra.
