BOX SCORE HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. - Senior
Erin Quinn made eight saves as Towson women's soccer fell, 1-0, to Hofstra Sunday afternoon at HU Soccer Stadium in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play.
Hofstra's Sam Scolarici scored early to put the Pride ahead and HU held on for the next 85 minutes for the win. Hofstra (6-7, 2-2 CA) outshot Towson (3-7-2, 0-3 CA) 19-5 and took six corners to Towson's one. Sophomore
Natalia Pinkney (2), seniors
Katie Ponce (1) and
Sofia Read (1) and freshman
Kristyn Hubbard (1) took shots for Towson. The Tigers did have a goal called back for offsides.
"[Hofstra's goal] was first-class," said Head Coach
Greg Paynter. "Overall it was a good, tough CAA contest. It was the type of game I expected it to be. We didn't get a lot of good chances on net. It was a physical match, and we made a good effort."
The Tigers return to action on Friday, Oct. 10 when they welcome UNC Wilmington to the Tiger Soccer Complex at 3 p.m.
