TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University men's swimming and diving program will host George Washington in a dual meet on Saturday, Nov. 8. The meet, which will be held at Burdick Pool, is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Tigers are currently ranked 27th in the nation in CollegeSwimming.com's Division I Team Power Rankings.
"Our meet against GW will be another great opportunity to compete at home," Head Coach
Pat Mead said. "I anticipate some great swimming and diving. I hope the Towson community will come and support both our teams in our last home meet of the fall."
The Tigers improved to 4-1, 2-0 CAA after a two-day meet hosted by George Mason. Towson defeated College of Charleston (score of 225-124) and George Mason (213-139).
Senior
Matt Lowe led the Tigers in three events; the 1650-yard freestyle (15:41.83), the 500-yard freestyle (4:33.08) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:50.61). He was named the CAA Co-Men's Swimmer of the Week for his performance.
Sophomore
Nick Breschi earned victories in four events; the 100-yard (50.67) and 200-yard (1:49.76) backstrokes, as well as the 200-yard (1:32.38) and 400-yard (3:22.57) medley relays. Â
Four other Tigers had multiple victories on the day, including senior
John Gartland, junior
Matt McKenney, junior
Matt Hans and senior
Jon Burr.
Gartland was victorious in the 100-yard breaststroke (56.88) and swam on the 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays which placed first.
McKenney swam a leg on the winning 200-yard and 400-yard medley relays. He added a third victory of the day in the 100-yard butterfly (49.08).
Hans was a member of the victorious 200-yard medley relay team and picked up a second win in the 100-yard freestyle (46.17).
Burr recorded two wins during the meet, the first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:53.37) and the second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:41.79).
Towson will be in action next when they travel to the Bucknell Invitational. The three-day meet is scheduled to begin on Friday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m.
