Men's Basketball Welcomes Coppin State to SECU Arena

Story Lines
Towson puts it six-game win streak on the line as they welcome Coppin State to SECU Arena Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.

Towson is 16-1 all-time in SECU Arena.

The first 1,000 students in attendance will receive a free gold t-shirt.  Additionally, anybody who brings an unwrapped gift to donate to Toys for Tots will receive a free ticket to the game.

The 6-1 start is the best for the Tigers since they joined Division I in 1979.  It is also the third-best start in school history dating back to 1958.

Sophomore John Davis leads the CAA in rebounds at 8.4 rebounds per game.  He also leads the conference with three double-doubles.

The Tigers defense has held four opponents under 50 points and are allowing a CAA-low 57.6 points per game.  Towson also leads the conference, and ranks 12th nationally, with a +12 advantage on the glass.

Junior Four McGlynn went 13-for-13 from the free-throw line in the victory over UMBC.  On the season, he is 39-for-40 (97.5%).

Free T-Shirts and Tickets
The first 1,000 students in attendance Wednesday night will receive a free gold t-shirt.  Also, any fan that brings an unwrapped gift for Toys for Tots will be given a free ticket to the game.

Season Ticket Holder Gifts
Season ticket holders will have the chance to pick up their gift at any of the home games in November or December.  A table will be set up by the will call booths.

2015 Charleston Classic
Towson has been selected to participate in the 2015 Gildan Charleston Classic on Nov. 19-22, 2015.  Other teams in the tournament include Bradley, George Mason, Long Beach State, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall and Virginia.

vs. Coppin State
The two teams are meeting for the 13th time on the hardwood.  Towson holds a 7-5 advantage, including an 81-79 road victory last season.  The teams have split the previous four meetings in Towson.

vs. the MEAC
Coppin State is their member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MEAC) on the Tigers schedule.  Towson already owns victories over Morgan State (51-46) and Bethune-Cookman (63-42).

Controlling the County
The Tigers are playing their fourth game this season against a team from Baltimore County.  So far, Towson is 3-0 with victories over Morgan State, Goucher and UMBC.  Last season, the Tigers went 4-0 against teams from the state of Maryland.

Skerry 2nd Fastest to 50 Wins
Head Coach Pat Skerry won his 50th game at Towson with the victory over UMBC.  The victory came in his 116th game as head coach of the Tigers, making him the second-fastest coach to 50 wins in school history.  Vince Angotti needed just 81 games to reach 50 wins from 1966-70.

2nd Half Free Throws
Free throws were the story in the second-half of the victory over UMBC.  Towson helped to break open a close game by going 16-for-19 (.842) in the game's final 20 minutes. More impressively, the Tigers went 13-for-15 in the final 4:48.

Large Margin of Victory
Towson defeated Goucher by 54 points in the home opener.  It marked the third-largest margin of victory in school history.

The Tigers are off to a 6-1 start this season.  It is tied for the third-best start for the program dating back to the 1958-59 season.

Dominating the Glass
Towson has been dominating on the glass over the past four games.  They have outrebounded four-straight opponents by double digits.  It is the first time in the Pat Skerry era that they have done that.  Last season, the Tigers twice outrebounded three-straight opponents by double digits.  Towson currently ranks 16th in the NCAA in rebounding margin (+12.0).
