Story Lines
Towson is off to its best start in over 30 years at 7-1.  It is the third-best start to a season in school history, and the best since the team began the 1976-77 season 25-1.

The Tigers are now 4-0 against teams from the Greater Baltimore area this season, and 8-0 against teams from the state of Maryland dating back to the start of the 2012-13 seasons.

The Tigers have jumped out to the great start with their defense and rebounding.  Towson is allowing 59.9 points per game and outrebounding their opponents by 12.6 rebounds per game.

Sophomore John Davis continues his dominance on the glass by pulling down 14 rebounds against Coppin State.  It was the fourth double-digit rebounding game on the season, and his fourth double-double.

The Tigers and Hoyas will be meeting for the fifth time.  All four of the previous meetings have taken place in Washington, D.C.

In the last meeting in 2012, the two teams battled for 40 minutes with the Hoyas escaping with a 46-40 victory.

vs. Georgetown
The two teams are meeting for the 5th time on the hardwood.  All of the previous meetings have been played in Washington, D.C. with the Hoyas holding a 4-0 advantage in the series.  The teams last met on Dec. 8, 2012 with the Hoyas winning 46-40.

vs. The Big East
The Tigers are looking for their first victory against a current member of the Big East Conference.  Towson is 0-12 all-time against the conference, with nine of the 12 losses coming to Georgetown and Villanova.

Controlling the Greater Baltimore Area
The Tigers have played four games this season against a team from the Greater Baltimore area.  Towson is 4-0 with victories over Morgan State, Goucher, UMBC and Coppin State.

In-State Winning
Towson has had success the past two seasons against teams from the state of Maryland.  The Tigers are 4-0 this season after going 4-0 in 2013-14.  The Tigers will meet one other team from the state when they play at Navy Dec. 22.

Skerry 2nd Fastest to 50 Wins
Head Coach Pat Skerry won his 50th game at Towson with the victory over UMBC.  The victory came in his 116th game as head coach of the Tigers, making him the second-fastest coach to 50 wins in school history.  Vince Angotti needed just 81 games to reach 50 wins from 1966-70.

Dominating the Glass
Towson has been dominating on the glass through the early part of the season.  They have outrebounded five-straight opponents by double digits.  It is the first time in the Pat Skerry era that they have done that.  Last season, the Tigers twice outrebounded three-straight opponents by double digits.  Towson currently ranks 6th in the NCAA in rebounding margin (+12.6).

Getting to the Line
The Tigers have lived at the free-throw line through the early part of the season.  Towson currently ranks second in the NCAA in free-throw attempts (231) and free-throws made (162).  They join UMass and Wake Forest as the only three schools to rank in the top five in both categories.

2nd-Half Runs
Towson has been in tight games throughout the season.  The difference has been a second-half run that pushed the Tigers to that victory.
