BOX SCORE CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston rallied from a 2-0 deficit for a 3-2 win over the Towson University volleyball team on Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). The Tigers (14-2, 1-1 CAA) got a career-high 21 kills from junior
Haley Pa'akaula in the loss.
The first set was a tightly contested affair. College of Charleston (9-7, 1-0 CAA) jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead on a kill from
Cara Howley. A kill from Pa'akaula pulled the Tigers to within three, 13-10. An attack error from the Tigers allowed the Cougars to push their advantage to 18-14. A kill from
Krissy Mummey gave College of Charleston a 22-17 lead in the set and forced a Towson timeout. A 3-0 run highlighted by back-to-back kills from Pa'akaula pulled the Tigers to within three, 24-21 and forced a Cougar timeout. Pa'akaula's 12
th kill of the set cut the Tiger deficit to one, 24-23. The two teams traded points before a pair of attack errors from College of Charleston gave Towson a 27-25 first set win.

Victoria Williams helped Towson open up a 7-4 lead in the second set. A block from Williams and sophomore
Lindsay Flaherty pushed the lead to 12-4. An attack error by the Cougars extended Towson's advantage to 16-11. Senior
Saitaua Iosia recorded back-to-back kills which gave Towson an 18-12 lead and led to a timeout from the Cougars. A pair of kills from Mummey following the timeout pulled College of Charleston to within four, 18-14. The teams continued to battle before a ball handling error from the Cougars gave Towson a 25-18 set win and a 2-0 lead in the match.
A kill from Pa'akaula helped Towson open up an 8-5 lead in the third set. The two teams traded points before back-to-back attack errors by the Tigers gave College of Charleston a 14-11 edge and forced a Tiger timeout. A kill from Howley allowed the Cougars to maintain their advantage, 16-14. Towson pulled to within one, 18-17 on a kill from Pa'akaula. A ball handling error by the Tigers put the home team ahead 23-22. A kill from the Cougars gave College of Charleston a 25-23 set win and forced the match to a fourth set.
A bad set by the Tigers allowed College of Charleston to open up an 8-5 lead in the fourth set. A 10-5 lead by the Cougars forced a Towson timeout. A kill from redshirt sophomore
Candace Steadman cut the Tiger deficit to four, 12-8. Back-to-back kills for the Tigers cut the visitors' deficit to two, 14-12 and forced a Cougar timeout. A kill from
Melissa Morello gave College of Charleston a 16-13 advantage. A 20-15 Cougar advantage forced a Towson timeout. A kill from Howley gave College of Charleston a 25-18 set win and tied the match at 2-2.
A kill from Mummey helped the Cougars jump out to a 4-1 lead in the fifth. A kill from
Grace Rebarchak gave the home team an 8-2 advantage and the two teams changed sides on the court. A block from Mummey and Rebarchak made it 12-2 in favor of the Cougars. A kill from Morello closed out a 15-6 Cougars' set win and victory in the match.
Pa'akaula had a match-high 21 kills and 13 digs for her fourth "double-double" of the year. Iosia tallied 16 kills and seven digs for the Tigers while freshman
Barbara Lopez dished out 23 assists. Senior
Paige Sekerak tied her career-high with 31 digs. Sekerak is just the second player in program history to record 30 or more digs in a match in her career three times (
Lisa Weir).
Howley had 16 kills and 14 digs to lead College of Charleston.

Towson remains on the road following tonight's action. The Tigers will play at Hofstra on Friday, Oct. 3 at 7 p.m.
