Men's Basketball Opens CAA Play at James Madison

Story Lines
Towson begins Colonial Athletic Association action on the road as they travel to face James Madison Jan. 3.

The Tigers won all three meetings a season ago, including an 80-71 victory in the opening round of the CAA Tournament.

Towson is 4-3 against JMU under current head coach Pat Skerry.

The Tigers enter conference play after going 7-6 in non-conference action.  

The team is 7-6 through the first 13 games for the second consecutive season.

Towson is 2-1 in CAA openers under head coach Pat Skerry.  The Tigers defeated UNC Wilmington in the conference opener each of the past two seasons.

The Tigers had their best first half of the season against Fairleigh Dickinson, going 20-of-30 from the field.

Junior Four McGlynn tied his career-high with 27 points against FDU.  He connected on 5-of-6 three-pointers, and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.  It marked the third time this season that McGlynn has hit five three-pointers in a game.

Towson opens CAA play as they travel to face James Madison.  Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.

2015 Charleston Classic
Towson has been selected to participate in the 2015 Gildan Charleston Classic on Nov. 19-22, 2015.  Other teams in the tournament include Bradley, George Mason, Long Beach State, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall and Virginia.

vs. James Madison
The Tigers are just 14-27 all-time against James Madison.  Towson has had the upper hand the past couple of seasons as they won all three games last season and four of the last five over the past two seasons.

CAA Openers
Towson is looking to win its conference opener for the third-straight season.  Since joining the CAA in 2001, the Tigers are just 4-10 in conference openers.

McGlynn Leads Nation FT Shooting
Junior Four McGlynn leads the country in field-goal percentage.  He is shooting 95.7% (66-of-69) this season.  McGlynn is also the NCAA active career leader in free throw percentage at 91.4% (256-of-280).

McGlynn Finds Shooting Touch
Four McGlynn had the long-range touch against Fairleigh Dickinson as he knocked down his first five three-point attempts.  He also went 8-of-8 from the free-throw line and tied his career-high with 27 points.    It marked the third time this season he has knocked down five three-pointers in a game this season.

Taking Care of the Ball
Turnovers have a played a big role in the success for the Tigers this season.  In their seven victories, they are averaging 12.9 turnovers per game.  But, in their six losses, they are turning the ball over 16.7 times per game.

Big First-Half vs. FDU
After struggling in the first half the previous four games, Towson had a breakout shooting performance against Fairleigh Dickinson.  The Tigers went 20-of-30 from the field in the half.  The 20 field goals was a season high for a first half and equaled the number of field goals made in the first half the previous three games.
