TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University volleyball team hit .383 en route to a 3-0 win over the College of Charleston on Friday night in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play. The .383 hitting percentage was the second highest of the season for the Tigers (22-4, 9-3 CAA) who won their third straight match.

HOW IT HAPPENED- College of Charleston (13-12, 5-6 CAA) led 8-4 in the first set following a kill from Devon Rachel. The Cougars extended their lead to 10-6 on a kill from Kennedy Madison. Towson used a 5-0 run to take an 11-10 lead in the set. Sophomore Julymar Otero had a pair of kills during that run. The Cougars briefly tied the set at 11-11 before a 7-4 run gave the home team an 18-15 edge. Junior Lindsay Flaherty had three kills while freshman Jocelyn Kuilan had two kills. The two teams traded points and found themselves tied at 24-24. A pair of kills from Otero and a kill from redshirt junior Candace Steadman helped secure a 27-25 set win for the Tigers.
- Towson hit .341 in the set to the Cougars' .244 clip. Kuilan and Otero each posted five kills in the set.
- A kill from Kuilan helped the Tigers open up a 7-4 lead in the second set. A 9-5 run helped the Cougars take a 13-12 lead in the set. Krissy Mummey had three kills during that stretch. Towson responded by scoring three of the next four points to take a 15-14 lead. Kuilan had a pair of kills during that scoring spurt. The two teams battled back-and-forth and found themselves tied at 21-21. Kills from Kuilan and junior Jessica Lewis along with a pair of attack errors by the Cougars gave Towson a 25-21 set win. The Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the match.
- The Tigers hit .293 in the set while holding the Cougars to a .125 hitting percentage. Kuilan had five more kills while Lewis and senior Haley Pa'akaula had four kills each.
- A kill from Otero helped the Tigers open up a 9-5 advantage in the third set. A kill from Steadman extended the Towson lead to 14-9. Back-to-back service aces from redshirt freshman Anna Holehouse allowed the Tigers to take an 18-12 advantage. The two teams traded points before a kill from Lewis sealed a 25-17 set win and gave the Tigers' a victory in the match.
- Towson hit a blistering .526 in the set while the Cougars posted a .281 hitting percentage. Towson had 21 kills in the set with just one hitting error in 38 attempts. Lewis had six kills in the set while hitting .667.
QUOTABLE- "I thought the first set was back and forth, Charleston came out a little differently and it took us a little bit to adjust," said Towson Head Coach Don Metil. "In the third set, they came out in a rotation we expected and I think that's reflective in the stats. I thought our hitting percentage in the third set was fantastic. I thought July had a great match tonight and it's definitely good to see our right sides being efficient tonight and we are going to need those performances on Sunday."
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE- Towson's .383 hitting percentage was its second highest of the season (.411 vs. St. Francis).
- Kuilan led the Tigers with 13 kills and a .391 hitting percentage while Otero had 10 kills and a .667 hitting percentage. Lewis was the third Tiger in double figures with 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage.
- Holehouse had a match-high 18 digs and raised her season total to 497 digs. If she records three more digs, Holehouse would become the fourth player in school history to reach 500 digs in a single-season.
- Redshirt senior Aimee Schubert had 28 assists and 10 digs for her second straight double-double and 12th of the season.
The Tigers close out their current home stand on Sunday, Nov. 1 when they host UNC Wilmington at 1 p.m. It's "Autism Awareness" day and all fans who wear blue to support the cause will receive free admission. The Seahawks beat CAA leader James Madison on Friday night.
