Tigers Face Tough Challenge at Northeastern

Story Lines
Towson puts it's two-game winning streak on the line as they travel to face Northeastern Feb. 4.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

This is the second meeting between the teams this season.  The Huskies won the first meeting, 52-49, Jan. 10 at SECU Arena.  

John Davis led the Tigers with 11 points.  Four McGlynn and Alex Gavrilovic each added nine points off the bench.  Scott Eatherton led NU with 21 points.

Towson is coming off one of its best offensive performances of the season in the victory over Hofstra.  The Tigers shot 57.8% from the floor, including 63.6% in the second half.  The 50 second-half points were also the second most scored in a half this season.

McGlynn led five Tigers in double figures with 22 points.  It was the second-straight game McGlynn scored at least 20 points.  The junior scored 20 points in the victory over College of Charleston.

Freshman Mike Morsell scored 14 points in the victory over Hofstra, after scoring a career-high 15 points against CofC.  He is averaging 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.4 assists and one block per game over the previous five games.

Towson hits the road for a Wednesday evening game at Northeastern.  Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.

Since the start of the 2012-13 season, Towson has the second most Colonial Athletic Association victories.  The Tigers are 30-14 over that span.

2015 Charleston Classic
Towson has been selected to participate in the 2015 Gildan Charleston Classic on Nov. 19-22, 2015.  Other teams in the tournament include Bradley, George Mason, Long Beach State, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Seton Hall and Virginia.

vs. Northeastern
The Tigers and Huskies have met 29 times prior with Northeastern holding a 17-12 advantage in the series.  Towson is 4-8 in games played in Boston.

Earlier vs Northeastern
The two teams met Jan. 10 at SECU Arena with the Huskies escaping with a 52-49 victory.  The game was tight throughout and the Tigers got a good look to tie the game late.  John Davis led Towson with 11 points.  Scott Eatherton had 21 points for the Huskies.

Coaches Homecoming
Wednesday's game will be a homecoming of sorts for a trio of Towson staff members.  Head Coach Pat Skerry is a native of Medford, Mass., while assistant coach Jim McCarthy is from Brookline, Mass. and director of basketball operations Mike Swets is from Westborough, Mass.

Morsell Earns CAA Honor
Freshman Mike Morsell was named the CAA Rookie of the Week after averaging 14.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 blocks in a pair of wins against College of Charleston and Hofstra.  He had a career-best 15 points and six rebounds in the victory over CofC.

Shooting Performance
Towson had its best shooting performance of the season when it shot 57.8% from the field against Hofstra.  The Tigers shot 63.6% in the second half in erasing a one-point halftime deficit.

50-Point Half
Towson's hot second-half shooting helped the Tigers score 50 points in the second half at Hofstra.  It marked the second time this season Towson has scored at least 50 points in a half this season.  The Tigers scored 52 second-half points against Goucher.

Getting to the Line
Towson got to the free-throw line 41 times in the victory over Hofstra.  It marked the second time this season the Tigers have gone to the line at least 40 times.  Towson attempted 47 free throws against Coppin State.  The 29 makes against Hofstra were also the second-most makes.
