TOWSON, Md. - The Towson University Athletics Department recently released its "I am a leader because...." video at one of the women's basketball home games.

The video released in conjunction with the women's basketball "Ban Bossy" video, encourages young girls to step up and be leader. It features athletic adminstrators, coaches and student-athletes along with other important female leaders from the Towson campus.

"Being a role model is one of the best parts of what we do in college athletics, and we have a responsibility to invest in the leadership of our student-athletes, staff and coaches," said Deputy Director of Athletics Tricia Turley Brandenburg. "I overheard a female student from one of the Baltimore City Schools in attendance at our recent field trip day say to herself, "I'm going to be in the starting five one day." This just highlighted the impact our student-athletes, coaches and staff can have in our community. I am extremely proud of this project which highlights female leadership within athletics and across campus and I look forward to continuing our focus on leadership within the department, on-campus and in our community."
