HARRISONBURG, Va. – No. 18 James Madison University used a 12-0 run to claim a 15-6 win over the Towson University women's lacrosse team in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play on Friday evening. Redshirt senior attacker
Andi Raymond led the Tigers with five points and four draw controls.
"We were out hustled today," said Towson Head Coach
Sonia LaMonica. "JMU scrapped and came up with the ball to get possession. We responded eventually, I challenged some people on a timeout and they responded but it was unfortunately too little too late."
The Tigers (7-7, 2-3 CAA) were quick to get on the board to start the game. Senior midfielder
Paige Duncan took a pass from Raymond just 42 seconds into the game and scored. Towson added to its lead at 28:29 as sophomore midfielder
Samantha Brookhart passed the ball to redshirt sophomore midfielder
Michelle Gildea. She buried the ball in the back of the net for her ninth goal of the year and a 2-0 Towson lead.
Unfortunately Gildea's goal was the last the Tigers scored until there was 18:16 left in the game. The Dukes closed the first half on a 6-0 run and took a 6-2 lead at the break.
