Holiday Cahill crushed her 11th home run of the season to help the Towson University softball team defeat UNC Wilmington 4-0 on Sunday. Senior
Missy McCormick pitched her sixth complete game shutout to prevent a series sweep by the Seahawks.

Towson improved to 25-18 overall and 6-9 in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) play with the win against UNCW (17-22, 4-11 CAA).

The Tigers' offense got going early as freshman
Shelby Stracher smashed a solo homer to right field in the second inning to put the Tigers on the board. Stracher now leads the Tigers' rookies in home runs and is tied for the second-most on the team.

Towson added two more runs in the third inning when Cahill blasted her league-leading 11th homer, bring around freshman
Brook Miko. She is now only home run away from tying Towson's single-season record for home runs (12).

Cahill drove in another run for the Tigers in the seventh inning, scoring junior
Olivia Yarbrough. Yarbrough had walked to lead off the inning before advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by freshman
Kendyl Scott.

The Tigers outhit UNCW 7-4, led by Cahill who had two hits and three RBIs on the day. Sophomore
Tateum Valentine also recorded two hits for Towson.

McCormick (13-6) was impressive for the Tigers, earning her sixth complete game shutout of the season. She struck out eight batters and allowed only four hits and two walks. She needs one more shutout this season to tie the school record for single-season shutouts (7).

Claudia Rowland (4-10) came on in relief action, giving up three runs and two hits over 2.2 innings to earn the loss. She tallied four strikeouts and walked three Tigers.
Peyton Jordan pitched the first 4.1 innings for the Seahawks, allowing one run and five hits.

Towson returns home to host Morgan State in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday, April 22 at 3 p.m. The Tigers will travel to UMBC to play two on April 23 before hosting CAA foe Drexel in a weekend series from April 25-26.
